Hyde Sails will be running a repair service for their customers – the aim of the service during Skandia Cowes Week is to get as many people back out on the water for the next days sailing.

We will endeavour to complete all repairs given to us however; we cannot guarantee any large repairs being done in time for the next days racing.
We cannot accept any repairs after 16.30 (weather permitting) and all repairs completed will be back by 08.45 the following day.
There will be one drop off point for the SB3 class only, at Shepherd’s Wharf.

Service on the doorstep for Hyde customers
Hyde Sails’ service loft is now located in Swanwick where the Head Office is also based. Gareth Heel, 25, manages the operation along with Julyan Richardson who between them, have 32 years experience in sail making. Both keen sailors their wealth of knowledge ensures they offer trusted expert opinions and a high quality service. Most repairs are turned around in a week with Head Office organising dispatch and any follow up needs.
Hyde Sails was founded over forty years ago and is one of the largest sail making companies in the UK producing state of the art high performance sails. The original lofts were based in Burnham, Hamble and Benfleet but over the last five years the entire operation has been moved to the Philippines. The manufacturing base is owned and operated exclusively by Hyde Sails and run by their own local staff. Gareth has played an integral role in this process travelling to the Philippines to train staff, oversee build of sail, quality and techniques to maintain and ultimately raise standards.
He explains:
‘It was a really good experience going to see the sail loft in Cebu and being involved in development. The people are very friendly, helpful and polite and we have a great team out there.’
There is a strong team ethos throughout the whole company with customer service a top priority. This ensures efficient and swift repairs for all customers. Sails can either be dropped off at the loft or couriered – a service which Head Office is pleased to help with.
Gareth and Julyan add:
‘Since setting up the service loft, feedback from customers has been really good. We are pleased to offer our clients experience, honesty, quick service and competitive prices. Now we do not have production in the UK we can focus totally on service and building relationships.’
