Formerly known as the Manches Cup, the 29th staging of the ‘Legal Cup’ was held over the weekend 18th/19th May on the Solent. Competed by members of the legal profession this years event started with two light wind races on Saturday. In class two the Hyde Sails powered ‘Alcibiades 3’, a Solaris One 44 owned by Chris Parker with fellow barristers and solicitors representing Maitland Chambers on-board dominated with two race wins.
Following a very enjoyable evening run ashore the crews regrouped on Sunday to continue their regatta but unfortunately the wind gods were not playing. After a long delay in the hope that a breeze sufficient enough to allow the yachts to cross the (building) tide would arrive the decision was taken to cancel all the days racing and head back to port and the prize giving.
Congratulations from Hyde Sails to Chris and crew who not only won their class but the overall event.
