Hyde Sails winning Championships in Squib, F15 and Mirror Classes
While there are still many restriction in place and overseas regattas are not an option, the restart of the race scene in the UK is going from strength to strength. It's been great to see the clubs all working hard to allow participation while still respecting the guidelines to operate in a safe way to protect both competitors and volunteers running the event.
The team at Hyde Sails have all been out over the weekend in the Squib, F15 and Mirror with overall wins achieved at each event.
Managing Director, Nigel Grogan continued his strong run of results in the Squib class, competing in the Squib Gold Cup with his son Jack they won the event with a race to spare including 5 race wins across the 8 race regatta.
In the Flying 15 lead sail designer Richard Lovering was also on top form with long term crew Matt Alvardo, the 2 time National Champions also won their event convincing scoring with 3 wins in the 5 races completed.
Finally in the Mirror class, One Design Manager Ben McGrane took to the water for his first Nationals in the class competing with his daughter Keira. Using the latest 2021 designs the team opened the regatta on day 1 with a 1,3,1 score line, from there sailed a controlled regatta including another race victory to win the Championships at their first attempt.
